NP435 PART NUMBERS

Post by TIGERNUTZ »

Hey guys, new here and have a question about np435 tranny. I'm putting it is my 70 Bronco.

Here's the story. Got tranny from junk yard and it wasn't in the truck at the time. There was no front bearing retainer and the front bearing was rusted badly. Anyway, I pulled the input shaft and replaced the bearing. The new bearing and old bearing had matching parts numbers. No problems yet. Acquired a bearing retainer from Broncograveyard and pressed race in place. Here's the problem. The race will not fit all the way down on the bearing. It aint even close. Everything I can find (which aint much) that includes the part # for this race says it's the right one. I don't see how that is possible, but that's what it says.

Does anyone here have the part numbers for that race/bearing?

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks

Lets start here: (see picture)
I really should have the trans tag or I.D. # to know for sure. My best guess is the following
I find 3 different choices for the front bearing retainer for this era NP435
(7050 number in picture)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
C4TZ.7050.A 4.82" overall length 5.124" flange O.D. 2.8428" flange I.D.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
C5TZ.7050.A 4.57" overall length 4.849 diameter with 4 11/32" holes
------------------------------------------------------------------------
C5TZ.7050.B 5.39" overall length 5.125 diameter with 4 11/32 holes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
all of these use the same C4TZ.7048.A input seal and the same CODW.4628.A race and the same CODW.4630.A bearing

The NP435 trans catalog also shows (depending on trans I.D. #) 3 different input shafts
9 3/8 long
8.991" long
10.061" long

The above numbers are Ford part numbers from the catalog, Any numbers you may find on the parts will be engineering number for crossover. The bearing and race should have industrial numbers on the sides of them.
