painting rims question

Post by Billybobjunky »

Ok guys, i'm doing primer==>industrial white===>clear enamel. Question is when I wetsand the finish to be baby smooth should I do it before the clear and then shoot it, or do i have to smooth the white, shoot the clear and then smooth the clear too? Thanks guys!

I assume your using spray equipment. I would sand the white but not the clear. Although bad orage peel is nasty, good orange peel is great. Wet sanding clear and removing the "rough, but gloosy" surface weakens the job against rock chips and such. If the clear looks good just let it be. Same goes if your using rattle cans.
