flex-o-matic leaf bolts

Post by tybob81 »

On my 68 it has the flex-o-matic rear suspension and for now since its time to start putting everything back together after sandblasting and paint. I wanted to put new leaf spring bolts in it because during tear down the bolts threads were damaged. So I thought it was no big deal I'll just chase the treads down with a tap and die, but the bolts are not a standard size. Bolts from TSC and even LMC are to big. Any suggestions?

your talking about the bolts that go through the spring itself right. did you have new bushings put in the springs if so are they the problem being too small? or is it the brackets that are giving you the problem?

Take a micrometer or a decent set of outside calipers and measure the bolt's thickness. Off the top of my head I don't know why they'd be anything special.

You might get it from NPD. Here's the selection.
