Bought a '68-'69 Ranger SWB 4x4 parts truck today
I just picked up another parts truck today on E-bay. This is a '68 or '69 SWB Ranger 4x4 with some missing parts, but I only paid $200 for it. I was mainly inquiring about the box, and from his description and the photos he sent it appears to be worth the money, but I guess I'll find out in about 3 weeks, which is how long I'll have to wait to go pick it up. It's about 8 hours from here, and tentatively I'll be headed down to extreme southern Missouri to get it. (Actually, it's just over the border into Arkansas.)
Here is a link to a page I just temporarily whipped up to display the pictures, until they can be incorporated into a regular project update page:
[LINK EDITED ON 4-30-06 - PICTURES NOW POSTED TO A REGULAR PROJECT UPAGE PAGE HERE]
It's going to take a little work to bring home, since I'm going to have to take a spare rearend/springs with me and get those bolted into the truck just to load it onto a trailer, but that should only take an hour or so....(knock on wood!)
I'm also watching another E-bay listing for a '68 SWB 2WD parts truck in the same neighborhood...we'll see how that goes. If I get that one, it'll get parted out where it sits and the carcass willl get scrapped.

Whoa, that makes my 4x4 donor look pretty good. Of course, I'm sure mine has more hidden rust; can guarantee it. Good luck! Maybe you should have offered to throw in a banjo and a set of teeth in exchange for a rear axle . Just kidding.

Cool that is the town my truck spent almost all of its life in before it was sold to a used car dealership in Branson. Thats about 2 hours from me. It would be cool to meet you up there in a few weeks, but right now I barely have enough time to visit the site.

The 460/C6 is probably worth more than that!
I'd get it if it were me.

Actually, my wife's kinda looking forward to taking the trip down to the Branson MO area to get this truck, since she's a big country music fan, and there's a lot of country music shows and stuff there. The 'Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum' is also in the area, so she wants to go check that out too...she was really big into that series of books when she was younger.
wolfpack: A running truck is definitely worth $200....well, usually. The trucks I buy I usually make sure at least has enough useable parts left on it so that I can sell them and get back the purchase price, in essence making it a free truck. As John mentioned, the engine/tranny is worth at least that.
