Transmission application?

I want to put a c6 behind my FE but was told that Ford did not put a c6 behind the FE engines in 4x4's only in the 2wd's. Is this true? If so how would I go about putting one in my 4x4? I have seen them in the 78-79 broncos but they have the 351m and 400m engines.Does anyone make an adapter plate or would I need to get a 2wd donor c6 and swap shafts and stuff from one from a m series or 460 ?

no its not true. you can find one ready to go or swap rear shafts and tailhousings.

So the 67-72 Ford f100 4x4's came with a c6 transmission...so which transfer case was mated to them?

well all the early 70's 4wd trucks around here that I have seen with the C-6, had a divorced style transfer case. Ie Trans/shaft/transfer case/shaft rear end. I gess if you wanted to use a integrated model you could convert the C-6 by using the adapter off the later broncos or f series.If you have the right out put shaft length on your C-6.

Thanks all but I cannot part with my stick tranny. I just thought maybe it would be easier to swap it out than repair it anyways thanks..I have posted my other questions on th eNP435 in this forum .
