Anyone make a wiring harness specificly for our trucks?

I was doing a little searching today, making a list of stuff and kind of pricing seeing how much I would ultimatley have in my truck to finish it the way i wanted...which will take a while But anyway I was wondering if anyone made a wiring harness specificly for the 67-72s. I checked painless and they make 67-72 chevy of course and EZ wiring has universal kits. I could probably do a universal kit because my electrical skills are pretty good i think anyway. But I think a specifc kit would be easier? Thanks if anyone can help.

I've never seen or heard of one that is '67-'72 specific. I don't think there'd be a large enough market for those to cover manufacuring costs...though I could be wrong.

I would think that a universal kit would work pretty well for our trucks - especially 67-68 models. The wiring is pretty simple compared to a car - especially a newer model.

If you were careful, you could run all the wires and bundle them together and then just wrap any exposed wires for protection and to give it the 'factory' look.

Would you trust a 30 yr old tire? why trust 30 yr old wires?

A complete re-wiring is definitely high on my list. And I'd like it to be nice and compact, like the newer vehicles. Plus think of the benefits of modern technology - you could run a kickin stereo and all the lights you wanted. Plus - you're gonna get a one-wire 100 amp alt. to go with it!!

and then there's a/c - and then the power windows and door locks, with keyless entry for the shaved door handles!! :twisted:

I have thought about making a wiring harness before. I have made them for some equipment I work on. Start with a piece of 3/4" plywood about 2Ft by 4ft.. Use an old wireing harness for a pattern. lay the old harness out on the board. Use finishing nails to make a tight path on both sides of the Old wiring harness(space nails about 1/4" apart and let then stick up an 1"). With the nails make a tight path for each set of wires that come off of the main set of wires.(light switch, wipers, radio, blower motor,etc.) Put a larger nail at the end of each path to wrap the new wires around to pull them tight. After you have the "Bed of Nail" done. Then you just route the new individual wires in one at a time. Have large nail at the end of each wire run to pull each wire tight. After all the wires are laid out on the board. Tie the wires together with wire ties, lacing twine, electrical tape, or what ever works best. Then cut the wire ends at the large nails and then you have a New Wiring Harness. If it works in your truck, you will have the Bed of Nails set up so you could go into buisness making wiring harnesses for 67-72 trucks. After the first set it gets easier.

Has anybody looked at Bare Bones wiring. Better value that painless for sure.

Try Ron Francis Wire Works at www.wire-works.com He makes a lot of wire harnesses for hot rodders and can custom make one. I don't know the range of his prices but you can request a quote.
