putting a 87 mustand motor 5.0 into a 72 f100 will it work?

I have a 1972 F 199 truck that the motor is worn out can i put a 87 5.0 mustang motor in it? truck has a T5 transmission in it.

Yep. Just another small block 302. The T5 shifter probably won't be in a good position but you can adapt/modify it to work. You'll need a different driveshaft too and have to work out the clutch linkage. Our trannys use "push" mechanism to operate the clutch, T5s use a "pull" mechanism. Oversimplifying, the engine should more or less drop right in, you'll just have to work out the shifter & linkage. Our 71 has a '98 Mustang 302 in it, and other than the fuel injection it looks essentially like any other 302. Of course we have an A4OD transmission, so we didn't have the issue of the T5 linkage
