Flywheel thread coming out
Ok I removed flywheel and noticed a thread was popping out. Should I just cut it, or resurface or get a new flywheel. I need a new ring gear and trying to save as much money as I can. Last thing the person I bought the truck from gave me a replacement ring gear but it doesnt look like it's a perfect circle that normal?

Looks like some dumbass installed a helicoil in it. No beuno... Should be a solid keyed insert instead. Google key-sert for pics and idea.

Re: Flywheel thread coming out
I would just install a keysert. We use them often at work and they're well suited for this type application. The coil insert should not have pulled out but they do if over torqued.

So do I pull the coil out and re-tap for keysert?

Re: Flywheel thread coming out
Yeah, that should suffice. The keysert is a solid oversized insert with locking pins that you drive in once the insert is flush. You'll need to countersink the surface @ .100" before tapping it for the sert to go all the way flush or you can grind the excess off once installed.
In any case, don't overtorque the bolts.
