Some class C bodies are literally just lowered down onto a complete chassis during the assembly process. Kinda like a boat.
I can believe it. I was offered a running 440 Dodge motor in an older class C for free earlier this year, and it took me and my son almost two full weekends to get that sucker out. It was set back six feet, so pulling it out of the front wasn't an option. As well as cutting out a ton of flooring to gain access (the existing hole under the engine cover was way smaller than the motor), we had to build a 10"x4'x6' platform inside the RV so the back wheels of the cherry picker sat at the same height as the raised section of floor by the doghouse. Once the motor was lifted out, the platform allowed us to roll everything back. Luckily the plan was always for a performance rebuild, because we had to tear it down to the block inside the vehicle so it would fit through the itty bitty side door. Complete and utter pain in the ass.
