Exhaust manifold gasket

Post by cgeeman »

I have a 1969 F100 with an FE 390 which runs well. I have noticed that the exhaust manifold gasket has crumbled and looks to be missing in places. I realize the obvious, however is there any way to address the gasket without removing the manifold? I'm concerned about stripping 50 year old rusted bolts. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

It's got to come off unfortunately. Plan ahead and start soaking everything now. A 50/50 ATF and acetone mix works well on seized bolts.
