I was freshening up a Ford iron intake manifold, and the adapter where the brass fitting to the heater core screws in it was pretty cruddy. So I tried to unscrew it ... and it broke off! I drilled most of it out, but I can't tell if the adapter screwed into the intake, or if it was presses into the intake. I can't find any info on it. Does anyone have a link or part number or ... ?

The fitting/adapter that that screws into. My intake has (or had, since it broke off) an adapter that the elbow screwed into. I wanted to remove it for cleaning and painting.

So, do I go without the adapter? If so, what is the size of the hole, and what should the thread tapping be? If I use an adapter, is it "slide-in," or is it threaded? The hole is probably 3/4"; I drilled out the adapter with an 11/16" bit, and there's still adapter around the sides of the hole. I just don't want to drill any morec out until I know what I'm drilling.

Why not find a replacement fitting with large threads and re-thread the hole to fit? If you don't have the tools for the job, it seems like a simple matter for a machine shop.
