Where oh where can i get one of these???

Post by 72bumbee »

I've looked at most major parts places and catalogues...

I've looked at junk yards...

I've looked at Ford dealerships...

Can YOU help?

This is the cause of the coolant leak and the threaded stalk is now so corroded that pipe goop cant even help it.

I bought a taller one from O'Reilly's last year. I'm on the road, but when I get home, I'll try to find a part number. You can also try eBay and amazon.

I think they are truck specific since the carb heat plate is also a flow bypass for when the heater valve is shut.

I couldn't find what I used, but if you go to O'Reilly's web site, and search for "Murray heater fitting," you can hopefully find a replacement. Mine sticks up to clear my intake manifold, but if Ford used a short one on your manifold, you should be able to find something. I don't remember the thread pitch or pipe size, either. I know that I did not get one with a tube that goes down into the manifold.

The issue is trying to find the one with two outlets. probably will have to use a “T” or “Y” in the hose and use one of the single outlet ones unless you can find a good used one.

Here's one for an older Bronco. They are mostly small blocks, but maybe it's the same.

Nope, single pipe is for everything other than a truck. Trucks use the dual hose setup so there is still flow when the heater valve is shut off.

To the OP, drain your coolant, remove your fitting and clean all that teflon crap off. Spray some brake clean on the threads and put a dab of Permatex Ultra RTV on it. Let it set up overnight and refill.

So I’ve checked several links and they were all single outlet style
I need the dual outlet unit

What’s OP in the above quote?
I was hoping to find an original but I’m okay with doing the “Y” option also... I’m not a purist as much as I am a cheapist.... haha!
Is permatex Ultra RTV a silicone, rubber, gasket material type stuff? I think I may have a tube of it on hand.
Still might have a chance at an original two port jobby if busboy comes through...
I’m still left wondering why these are obsolete???
Any ideas or should I not second guess the Ford engineers??!!??!! :fr:
