Hi everyone.
I've also posted this question in my project thread, but figured I'd also post it here to get more views/input.
I've finally got a chance to get back to my truck again after a few weeks. The next step is to install the distributor, and I have a question for you all. I am rebuilding the original 360 engine (basically just cleaning and sealing it up, but have replaced the heads with a better set).
I have a spare engine for parts (both engines were running well when I started this project). The original engine has a stock (I think) distributor with points, while the other had a Mallory E-spark electronic ignition. I'm wondering which distributor I should install. Both were working equally well when removed from their respective engines.
Any suggestions or tips on which might be easiest for me to set up? (this is my first rebuild project, so I'm trying to keep things simple - at least until I get more familiar with everything).
Thanks

I'm not familiar with Mallory but am familiar with MSD. I'd go with the Mallory electronic ignition.

I second the electronic ignition.

Seems like an E-Spark is a points replacement module like pertronix...
I’d run the E-Spark myself.

Electronic ignition is way better than points. When I switched I noticed the difference immediately. The biggest advantage is 5000 miles from now, you don't need to adjust it. If you ran points, you constantly have to check the gap and dwell for optimum performance. I used to like doing that, but not so much now.

Mallory, or swap in a Duraspark setup. But between Mallory or points, I'd say Mallory.

Definately go with the e spark setup. Points are good as a back up. Keep a set in the glove box as the go right on where that e spark is.
