Re: 1968 Mercury 250 Camper Special
Well after a little massaging the front all came together, this was rewarding to see.
I started on the wiring now and in need of some info on the headlight buckets as to what spring/springs hold it in along with the adjustment bolts. These are the two springs I have in the parts not sure which one or if any are right. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I was looking at how your fenders are a bit wider than the hood. Are your fenders stock or reproductions? Mine are repos and stick out about the same as yours- I just aligned the hood so they stuck out the same on both sides. Aligning body panels is tedious.

Re: 1968 Mercury 250 Camper Special
The grill was polished sometime in it's life but I had to clean it up in spots from being wrapped in wet newspaper for how knows how long.
The rock guard still needs a final polish but the bumper was re-chromed and is beautiful, a real good job done to it. I would have taken a straight on pic but I'm only 6" from my work bench and about 3" from my garage door....the truck can't grow anymore or it will have to stay outside.
I will be on the electrical for a while now trying to sort that out along with a few paint and body defects that need to be addressed.

It is looking good as all the parts get installed. Wiring is always fun, take your time and based on your other work it will come out great!

I think I have one original and one re-pop, and that's how both mine ended up and believe me I tried everything to get them right. I'm always looking now to see what other trucks look like and they all seem to be that way.Lone Ranger wrote:I was looking at how your fenders are a bit wider than the hood. Thanks hdco4, it would have been a little easier had I taken this truck apart and known the issues prior to getting painted as well. Yeah the wiring is not a big deal just need to check everything done and see what is missing.hfdco4 wrote:It is looking good as all the parts get installed. Thanks 67mann, I did see that diagram but thought the spring was just a generic symbol as both springs I have are a little different.

Keeping in mind that mine is a 72, it has the springs with basically round hooks. I took a picture and will post after I stick a fuel pump on it..

Yeah think my bronco was the same way spring was the same side to side.

Tried them both and both seem to work okay, all sandblasted and painted ?

Re: 1968 Mercury 250 Camper Special
I have found that using Dupli Color High Heat engine enamel works best for me. Two reasons, one you don't need primer and two it dries to the touch in about 4-5 minutes which is good for me because I'm impatient.
