I'm not highboy informed but power brakes and steering is going to be a PITA. Body should swap over pretty easily once it's stripped. I'd even consider keeping the highboy body together while sorting out the drive train and get the bodywork done on the donor. Then swap the good body onto the good frame.
Most failed projects fall apart once the truck is in a million pieces.
This is almost exactly what I’ve decided - instead of assuming that the highboy drive train is internally garbage, I’m going to fluid swap, looks for any easy to see damage, pull on a few things to see if they are loose, then bolt it back together and run it.
Both of the bodies are straight, only the hood and front assembly from the highboy is toast. So I’ll keep that as close to original as possible.
Got to spend some time cleaning up the Red 72 to get started on the drivetrain next week. Figured I could post some better photos : so this post is the 72 that is my core truck.

Wow, both trucks are in pretty good condition! You will definitely be able to recoup some of your money from the parts that you will not need! Or even piece together a beater truck to use as a parts hauler and then sell it off at a later date. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on the build!

Don't jump too soon. I would replace the front axle anyways as those front drums aren't great. You have the rear axle from the 2wd to use. Find a front axle from a 1977 to 1979 F250 and you will have front discs. You can also grab a 205 transfer case from a 1973 to 1976 f250 and have another upgrade. You still need a lot of the parts from the 2wd so what you don't use trade for what you do need!

This is great feedback! Thank you! Not sure why I didn’t think about the rear end in the other truck.

Yeah man i'm with Hfdco here 100% tried to post in here last night when the internet died. Posted in your other thread. With those two trucks you got..... Wish I was close by you heck 3-4 hardcore weekends you would be cruising with all the parts you got...
