Radiator Support Interchangeability

Post by pawpaws67 »

Is the Radiator support the same with the exception of the Super Cool radiator? I have a 67 with a 352 and found a seller with one from a 69 Inline 6 and am wondering if his will fit mine. Neither one of the trucks is 4 wheel drive.
Thanks everybody!

Yes all the others are the same, (the supercooling was used in 4 X 4 & F-350's).
Snatch it up if it's rust free for sure. I've seen a few guys putting dentside radiator supports, (which are more plentiful in boneyards) in the bumps now too.
And here's the new repop being made by DC:

Thank you basketcase0302! I haven't seen any up close pics yet for rust, but being in southern CA we don't have much of that problem here so maybe i'll get lucky.

You'll want to pay close attention to the area just in front of the battery, and the two "cavities" where the core support bolts to the frame rails, (holds dirt there rotting them out if they have not been kept clean).

Alright. I knew about the side next to the battery since thats the reason I need a new one but I hadn't heard about those two cavities. I'll be sure and check it. Thanks for the heads up.

The rad opening for the sixes was usually narrower than the eights but can be trimmed out to match.

I just pulled the radiator mount on my 69' F250. Rats made a nest in the cavity on the left. Nothing could break that bolt loose. Not a set of c-clamps and a block of aluminum, not breaker bars or nothing. After about 3 hours of trying, I just gave in and broke out the angle grinder. Cut that mount in have and got out a crobar to pry apart the fitting. The other one practically fell out. Ask me how I know it's the same radiator mount...

According to the LMC truck catalog (pg 13)they're the same mount from 67-72. A new set of mounts (pg 151)will cost $49.95.

Thanks for the heads up everybody! The one I picked up is in great shape. I was also able to get both headlight bezels, a headlight ring, the lower valance, a bumper (it needs a little straightening a re-chrome), an original screw jack(a little rusty but it works great), and a steering wheel. For $240 i'd say it was a successful day. All I have left to find is a right front fender.

I haven't had time yet to compare the supports. I want to get the new one blasted and locate a fender before I pull the old one. If any modifications need to be made I can just lay the old one over the new one and use it as a template.

I forgot to add the inner fender skirt to the list of parts. I also want to get it blasted and ready to go in before I start tearing everything apart.
