Today I started the truck up and heard a clunk, coming from the trans. I think im going to change the fluid to see if that helps at all. What kind of fluid do you guys use in your 3spd manuals? this is probably a newb question too, but how do you guys fill the thing up w/o spilling fluid everywere? also how much should I put in?

re: trans fluid
Get one of those little pumps they sell at the parts store. Just get 90wt
or whatever they got thats close. It don't make much difference. Take
the fill plug out of the side and pump it in till it runs out. Have a can or
pan under to catch the overflow. You can save it and pour it back in the
bottle.

re: trans fluid
today I drained the trans, and then added the new fluid. I almost cried when I saw how much fluid was in the trans, probably about a 20th of a quart. I felt so stupid that I didnt change it, or even CHECK it when I replaced the clutch. I still have a knock in the trans, not a u-joint or any of that stuff, I can feel its in the linkage, because when I put my foot on the pedal I can feel it clunking a little. When I press the pedal in it does not clunk at all, and shifts very smoothly. any suggestions on what I should check?
