Carburetor recommendation

I’m ready to upgrade the carb on my ‘67 F100 with a 352. I’m sure this has been covered ad nauseum so I apologize in advance.

The engine is stock with a rebuild a few years ago. Thinking of upgrading to a 4 bbl. I’m mostly interested in reliability, some performance improvement would be welcome and fuel economy is not a concern. I would like to run a carb that I can use a straight rod linkage on to eliminate the stock mousetrap.

I live in Southern California and I’ve never had to use the choke in the past, but any input on that is welcome as well.

I’m not looking at doing any other modifications to the engine so ideally if there is a 4bbl you would recommend that would be basically able to just be installed and go, I’d love to hear it.

With a stock 352 you won't want more than a 600 with vac secondaries.

If you want simple , get a Holley 500 cfm two bbl. it'll bolt on and you won't have to change intake manifolds.

You could get a 4bbl to 2bbl adapter but there's no real advantage to that.

Thanks for the tip! I do want simple and would like to stick with the stock manifold for now. I just want to get it running and reliable, bigger upgrades will come later.

Do you happen to know if the Holley would work with a rod throttle linkage? My stock linkage is trash at this point.

Any suggestions on which model Holley 500 cfm I would need? And do I need to run a spacer with it? Sorry for all the questions, I’m a newbie to carburetors.

Sorry to be the naysayer that adds to the confusion.

I run a 450 CFM 4bbl carb on my 360 and it Rocks!

If I were running a 2bbl I would use this one:

Remember that the smaller the primarys the better off-idle control you have.

Higher CFM = Higher RPM capabilities.
Lower CFM = Off-idle control and better mpg

This is a generality, so YMMV

What RPM range do you typically drive in?

If you want a 4bbl, get a Holley 4548. Often it is also listed with its Ford part number of D0PF-9510-U.

This will work fine on a cast Iron 'S' manifold or any of the aftermarket dual plane aluminum manifolds.

Not being familiar with an FE intake will an Autolite 2100 fit and be useable? The reason I ask is I've bought 2 and a Holley 1 bbl from Guaranteed Carburetors and they rocked on my small blocks and 6 cyl. All have been bolt on and run. Never had to adjust them and they have a lifetime warranty. I highly recommend buying carbs from them.

Hmmm. I responded yesterday evening to your original post but just noticed for some reason it never went through...
Anyway, I am very happy with my Holley 4412S on my stock 360. I broke down and got it after getting tired of forever screwing with warped and leaking accelerator pumps on the original stock carb.

The Autolite 2100 is the stock offering, works well, and easy to maintain. I would suggest replacing the brass float with a filled plastic float.

Thank you everyone for the input, I have learned a lot over the last couple days! I ended up ordering a Holley 350 CFM 2 barrel. This seems like a good choice given The engine is stock and I don’t plan on any performance modifications anytime soon. This carb also has a universal throttle set up so I’d be able to run the straight linkage and get rid of the mouse trap which is my ultimate goal. Parts should arrive this coming Wednesday, so get ready for a whole new influx of questions from me!

I am happiest that you feel you got good advice and were able to make a decision.

Some of the forums I am on leave people clueless and confused... It is one of the things I like about his place.

Make sure you put a filter inline for that carb, and make sure you get the right fuel line adapter (should be 5/16). Most speed shops will carry what you need as will summet/Jegs/speedway.

Anyway, keep asking questions, please include pics, and we will be happy to give you opinions... for what they are worth...
