Well, after eons of trepidation, I finally cranked over my rebuilt 352 ... and it ran!
Now, it's all the little stuff: timing, adjusting the carb, etc. But it ran! I am stoked (you can probably tell). After reading stories that "the first 20 minutes are the most important for the cam lobes," I was a bit paranoid. I couldn't tell any difference in sound from the beginning to the end, so I'm fairly certain that I didn't round off any lobes. I am running with an "RV cam," so it's far from radical. For now, I'm a happy camper. Now it's off to the next battle (leaking rear seal on the tranny).

No feeling and sound like a great running FE!
Congrats! Now keep the oil changed, the air breather (oilbath or paper element) flowing, and the engine surfaces clean. Clean is a big plus for these engines, especially when you're showing off the brand new baby to admirers.
