352-390 interchangability

Post by the elder rocker »

Hi Folks-
New to the forum and ignorant on Fords! That's out of the way! Will the valve covers and exhaust manifolds off of a '67 352 work on a '66 Mercury 390? According to the carb # the 390 in my '67 SWB is the '66 Merc. The 352 is in a parts truck said to be all original. It's rusty- no loss.
Thanks ahead for any knowledge.

The only thing that will NOT interchange between the 352 and the 390 is the

Crank
Rods
Pistons

EVERYTHING else interchanges

If you bore the 352 block, can you use the crank, rods, and piston to turn the 352 into a 390?

Yep bore it .050 and put standard bore 390 pistons in the block

Use the 390 crank and rods and you have a fresh bore 390
