Oil Drain Mess
Someone please tell me there is a better way to drain the oil on my 390 instead of letting run all over the engine crossmember ?!

Aluminum foil or old sheet oven pan bent up strategically.

Yeah I can't believe Ford would do that.

So it would have to catch it then redirect the oil to the rear. I even thought of putting a funnel there and using a rubber hose, the problem is there is no way to meter the draining oil.Ranchero50 wrote:Aluminum foil or old sheet oven pan bent up strategically.

Get a Fumoto oil drain valve and put a piece of hose on it long enough to get past the edge of the cross member......best thing I ever did........

Another vote for the Fumoto valve. I put them on all my vehicles, and also on a generator engine that I maintain for my in-laws, and I have been very happy with them.

First time I used aluminum foil worked ok, second time I tried to rig a funnel and it was a mess. Love the Fumoto valve. There is one downside though, I have to drain the oil another time without it!

Attach a shop vac to the valve cover where you put the oil in,turn it on and you can remove the drain plug whithout losing the oil in the pan.
