Oil pan.

Post by JohanNB »

Ok, here we go again...
Since you guys managed to help me out in a wonderful way last time I'll give it another try...;)
But this time it's the oil pan. I want to replace the gasket and have removed all 20 bolts. But at this time you just don't remove it huh??!?
Do I need to remove anything else to get it out?
Yes I'm a beginner...

I believe you have to unbolt the motor mounts and either jack the engine up to get clearance on the crossmember, or pull the motor.

The oil pump and pickup tube need a lot of space to clear, or be removed to get the pan off in the truck. I think the engine needs to be jacked up and a 2x4 chunk wedged between the motor mount and block on either side.
