What Rubber Motor Mounts to Use?

Post by colnago »

All,

I'm getting closer to finishing my engine rebuild (it's about time), and realized that I probably need new motor mount pads. Rock Auto has DEA, Pioneer, Anchor, and Westar. LMC has unknown at 3x the price. I haven't checked NAPA yet. Any opinions on good, bad, or ugly? I haven't looked into tranny mounts, but the same question.

When I replaced the 360 in my plow truck I bought engine mounts from NAPA. I didn't do any comparison shopping or put much thought into the choice-the local store had them in stock so that's what I got. From what I recall the price seemed reasonable. The mounts seemed sturdy, fit well, and have held up with no issues for several years now.
I haven't replaced transmission mounts, so can't offer any information or advice about them.

Napa is pretty good but they often will be anchors too. They will do you fine. You want to be old school bolt a piece of chain from the driver side down to the cross member. That way if it breaks it does not totally give out.
