Need Fuel Hose For Auxiliary Tank

Sorry, this isn't engine-related, but I couldn't find a good spot for this.

I have an auxiliary tank for my '67 F250, and it's been sitting at the side of the house for years. This weekend, I decided to install it, just to get it out of the yard. I have the original filler pipe, and the PO provided the rubber hose that goes between the pipe and the tank, so I was all set ... or so I thought. The hose is about 2" too short. It's attached, but it's pulling everything out of line. Does anyone know where I can get generic fuel hose that I can cut to length?

Welcome to my nightmare, I had the same issue on my 69. I ended up extending the metal portion of the filler pipe with a piece of exhaust tubing from Auto Zone. It worked great. I posted a write up on Ford truck enthusiast.

Dennis Carpenter lists a fuel filler hose, most likely for in-cab tank, but it may be worth a try if you can find out how long it is.

I thought about that, but I don't know if the rubber in a radiator hose would hold up to gas. Whatever I do, it's kinda a roll of the dice. Darn these old trucks, anyway!

You don't want to use radiator hose for gasoline. It won't stand up to the effects of gasoline. The gas hose also has a layer of metal wires sandwiched between the rubber. A good parts store (CARQUEST or Napa) should have lengths of fuel filler hose in various diameters that you can purchase by the inch. They cut what you need. The CARQUEST (now Advanced Auto Parts) I worked for has a bunch of 3' lengths in the back. Just call and ask if they have it.

Indeed, NAPA sells it by the foot. Cheap guys (like me) plumb a length of exhaust pipe between the bends and hose clamp the whole works together. Best tip is make sure the hose flows directly to the tank. If it goes up and forms a liquid trap you'll play Hell filling it.

Thanks for educating me on that. I wondered about that (whether gasoline would damage radiator hose) after I posted, and hoped that someone would know about it.
