Mustang gas cap
So I found a old mustang gas cap for sale cheap and wondered if they would fit our trucks. The picture is fuzzy but it looks close.

I'm not sure. But why risk it? Rockauto has gas caps for our trucks for cheap!

Re: Mustang gas cap
Driving modern cars with fuel cap tethers for so many years has made me complacent. This led to an unscheduled trip to a local Autozone after watching my truck's gas cap skitter away down a busy road one day after fueling up. The caps were around $6 if I remember correctly. I should probably buy an extra just to have on hand-I have driven for miles with it perched precariously on the top rail of the bed, stopping only when I notice it in the mirror or am alerted by a driver next to me at a light.

vented cap, Duralast #6023
If your truck is not equipped with the emissions evaporating canister, you'll want the unvented cap

Get an extra for when you dumbsh!t and forget to screw it on after refueling. I do!

Re: Mustang gas cap
Just a question, but I thought you wanted a vented cap if you don't have emissions canister? Not totally sure about that so I just wanted clarification. I have an F250 so no emissions so I thought those needed a vented cap so they don't build pressure inside of tank in the cab and vented to the outside where the emissions canister took care of that on the emissions equipped trucks.

Re: Mustang gas cap
I'm running a cheapo vented cap from napa works great. I just thought a cap with a mustang pony on it might look cool.
Once after I fueled up and it rained the rubber grommet got twisted and it wouldn't vent. The truck died twice before I figured it out. I had to keep reaching out the window and cracking the cap the rest of the way home.
