Working on my F-250's younger sibling, a '69 Galaxie convertible with a 351 W.

This 351 has been plagued for years by pressed in rocker studs that are pulling out of the heads. Several of the studs have been replaced with threaded, to mixed results. I finally said screw it, and ordered two Edelbrock E-Street heads to replace the stock ones.

Today, final assembly, and installed the distributor, with a little "bump" to engage the oil pump. No. 8 Exhaust rocker arm fails catastrophically, launching the hardened steel pushrod into the hood and across the shop, with the remains of the rocker landing 10' outside the shop after ricocheting past my ear.

Pulled the intake back off, lifter was also ejected from it's bore.

So, time to order all new rocker arms. Grrrr.

Roller rockers or?

Stock rockers. This is just a cruiser, so no need to go to the expense of the rollers.
