I confess this is not for my bump. This is another thing I have going on. I picked up a built but never fired roller 5.0 and I'm going through it now. It was built 8 years ago and then sat in never finished mustang. I decided I'd go through and check it out before I threw it in my work truck.
Anyway, it has a "performer 289" which doesn't look very impressive. Thought maybe I should upgrade but still keep the build low budget. The engine is set up with a comp cams xtreme energy cam, world Windsor jr heads, I believe standard bore and stock stroke. I'll more thank likely put 3.73 gears behind everything and it will run throughg a t5 if that makes any difference to my choice. Carb is to be determined. A few people seem to be raving about the edelbrock RPM intake. Looks like they run around $250 so unless it's a huge improvement over what I have I wasn't sure if I should go that route.
Any ideas?

Re: 5.0 intake manifold
Performer 289 intake is a good manifold just runs outta wind up high in the RPM. IT's idle to 5500rpm and let me tell you it noses over bad at 5500rpm. Like gasps for wind just shuts off. The truck it was in that scooter had nosed over bad. The performed RPM will wind on out but takes a second to wind up. My guess by the description is fox mustang??? if that be true the performer rpm will not hurt cause you will be past 1500 fast. either way just be honest what you want. You want low end torque or want it to scream on out.. choice is yours

Re: 5.0 intake manifold
That gives me some stuff to think about. It's actually going in a 2wd f150. Should make for an interesting truck. That being said I might not want to give up much on the low end. It doesn't do any real towing but I'd like to still be able to use it like a truck when the need arises. But I'd also like to be able to wind it up. Hmm...

Re: 5.0 intake manifold
That's easy then if its a heavy truck performer 289 my 81 bronco 302 ran that forever and never complained. I wound it high enough to blow the upper radiator hose off. The thing is if its and lightweight car then you might run out of air. The truck you will be fine. Save your money that's what i would do.

Re: 5.0 intake manifold
Well I'm convinced. Saving money is always a bonus too! Worst case, I don't like it and just swap it later. Sounds like a winner though. Thanks for your help!
