Papaws 68' 6speed Coyote Swap

Post by Bronco_77 »

Well I've had the old truck a while now and thought start a build on it. It was my grandpas truck a 68 ranger with a 390 3 on the collom that he drove daily dilivering socks from his hosery mill building houses and using it around the farm. He died when I was 2 but we still used it around the farm till the id 90s when it just got parked. In 05 my grandma said that I could have it if I would fix it so I jumped all over that with big plans of restoring it all original so I tore it in a million peices got in over my head at the time bought the bronco and lost interest in it. So it set for 11 years and I've finally got back around to it now with a hole new direction. I started working on it back in the summer and I ain't got as much done as I was hoping but I've got the Vic ifs in and started on the 4 link yesterday. This is it when I pulled in in the shop to start on it for the second time. Couldn't just leave all that tred on the old tires.

I got a lil done this week but not as much as I was hoping but never do. I got the c notch and frame boxing knocked out early in the week and was hoping to knock the 4 link out but work was crazy so not much happen. Started to work on the 4 link this morning with some good help after I convinced her she had to wear a cool helmet like daddy got everything tacked in and made some drop brackets to lower the front of the lower arms down 5 1/2 inches to level them out. Still have lots of welds to clean up and figure out how I want to mount the shocks. Also thinking bout doing a sway bar but haven't decided yet on what route I want to go on that yet but pretty happy with it so far.

Im finally getting a lil done on the truck since work is slowing down a lil and deer season is over. Fabed up some brackets to mount the coilovers and got them on not real happy with the way it's sitting so going move the bottom brackets in a lil to raise it a lil bit and give me more room for wider tire. Pertty happy with the rest of the rear end it's a 82 f100 with a Eton tru trac youkon 3.70 gear and explorer disc brake swap.

Haven't got to work to work on the truck that much lately but I did get to pick up some parts today that I've been wanting for a real long time. It got me fired up I can't wait to gut this thing and start fabing it up.

Well that throws another whole dimension into it. Some folks shouldn't own nice things...

Going to try and transfer the Mustang electronics into the truck or go stand alone EFI?

Thanks man I planing on running the ford racing control pack. Yea he killed it on the passenger side looks like he just lost it and slid in to s pole or something. What really sucks is I was digging threw it and found all the paperwork where he had bought it he gave $30000 for it only had it a few months and put less than 6000 miles on it. Oh and he was a high school kid too found all his books and homework in the trunk. I can't say anything though if I'd had something like this in high school it would probably been blowed and looked lot worse than this one.

A spoiled kid down the street from me had his grand parents (mom was PWT) buy him a '69 Mach 1. He put it into a telephone pole on a wet road a couple months later crunching the nose hard. Last I heard he was in jail for bank fraud, always had this great idea of stealing credit cards and having the stuff sent to vacant properties...
