Gas pedal linkage
I have a 1972 Ford F100 390 that I just installed a 4 barrel intake manifold from a 1964 Thunderbird GT. I put an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor on it. My gas pedal mount is broken and I am in need of a new one. I am looking at buying a universal/aftermarket gas pedal cable/linkage to install that would work. Do you guys know which one I could buy that would fit? Currently the linkage will not fit even if modified. Thank you in advance.

My truck has an Edelbrock 1405 (same basic carb, but with a manual choke). I'm using a direct link between the pedal and the carb. It's a length of all-thread with a heim joint screwed into each end, and the ball of the joints bolted to the carb/pedal with a small bolt. I was able to adjust the height of my gas pedal by changing the length of my all-thread.
If the mount for your pedal is broken, you might be able to find a replacement at your local Pick-n-Pull.

I have a 390 4-barrel intake off of a 1963 Galaxie 500 that's sitting at the machine shop waiting to be thermally cleaned right now. I was planning on putting an Edelbrock 1406 on it when I get it installed on my '71 360. Are you saying that as-is, the linkage on the Motorcraft 2100/2150 2-barrel doesn't fit the Edelbrock? I figured as much and had planned on calling Summit Racing (800-230-3030) to see if there was going to be a linkage issue and what they suggested as a solution when I bought the carb, but haven't done that yet. Maybe you could try? I'm sure they have a linkage solution at the very least.

There are several different setups available, on other years/models, that can work with some modification. The basic issue with the Edelbrock carb on a bumpside is the operation of the gas pedal linkage through the trapeze. Autolite throttles were designed to be "pushed" open at the top of the carb linkage. The operation of the foot pedal made the linkage rod at the firewall "pull" backward. The trapeze configuration reversed that direction to a pushing motion against the throttle linkage. Edelbrock throttles are designed to be "pulled" open from the bottom of the throttle linkage. Therefore, the stock gas pedal/trapeze configuration won't open the throttle correctly. To compensate for this you can eliminate the trapeze so that the stock pedal linkage pulls straight back on the throttle linkage. This does result in a really touchy gas pedal but you can compensate for that with opposing springs on the throttle linkage. Here's an article I've been saving on making your own throttle linkage. When you click on it you might get a security violation warning but don't sweat it. Just click on through it saying it OK and add security exception and so on.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying, it does not fit. I tried with no luck. I also have the auto transmission and had to buy the Edelbrock kickdown attachment.
