68 240-6 fan clutch

Post by takehikes »

My truck does not have the fan clutch on it but I bought one from Napa to put on. I want to quiet down the engine noise a bit, no cooling issues.
However I look at my fan and the clutch fan and I cant figure out how it goes together, doesnt make sense to me at all. Any diagrams that show it?

If you have a rigid mount fan, it will not bolt up to a fan clutch. You'll have to have a fan that's designed to bolt to a clutch --it'll have a larger center hole in the fan hub.

I replaced the fixed 4-blade fan on the 240 in my '69 Ranger with a 7-blade clutch fan from a '70 Thunderbird. Photos and detail of the parts in the following link.
