Sorry, late to the party. :D I'd tackle the electrical under the hood first. Replace that voltage regulator in your photos with a period correct style http://www.autozone.com/batteries-start ... 7_887940_0 Make sure you have a good clean connection where the bolts/screws go through the radiator support. If you have sheet metal screws holding it on, switch to bolts, nuts and star washers and make sure you have a clean bare metal to bare metal contact surface, sanding if necessary. Also, here's a wiring diagram for your truck. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... iagram.jpg It can be intimidating at first, was for me, but once you start looking at tracing wires, it begins to make sense. Focus your attention on the area in the upper left corner of the diagram first. It shows the battery, voltage regulator, alternator, starter relay and ignition connections. Everything starts and leads out for here. Trace the wires from these areas back to the next connector and make sure everything is connected properly with no broken wires or corroded connections. Once you have all of that verified, then we can move on to the ignition circuit from the key to the solenoid. Also, maybe it's just me, but I would disconnect those non-original switches under the steering column until she's up and running consistently. They're a variable that may be causing or hiding other problems. And replace those fuses in the fuse box, eliminating the "foil bypass" with new fuses.

Well got little to nothing done again yesterday. Got that part # and installed. Hooked the starter back up and made sure it had all 3 bolts and tightened up. Click.click.click. ok thats good. At least.im not.losing.pwr.now
Looked under the hood and the .starter cable wasnt hooked up. So than. Click. Nothing dead. Like dead battery. Think i need a new starter. I.did put a new ground wire.on the back firewall to the.motor.manifold backside.kinda. mine was exposed.
Also. I went under and tapped the starter with my socket wrench. My emergency lights came on. Lol. At.least i know.where the emergency flasher switch is now.

Buddy or a.cpl.buddies are supposed.to help.me with it.today...or.this.morning. so.we can conquer the header exhaust bolts. Than the starter should come.out easy peasy

I.did chase the wiring all the way through the passenger firewall and i un srewed my instrument panel to.peek.
Wires look.good..some leftovers from old ignition and such i think but some. Looked newer even.
Edit. Forgot. The old fuses had bubble gum wrapper around em. Swapped most of those out. A cpl didnt come in the lil multi pack i got.
Pix and questions!

That thing next to your oil filter is the fuel filter canister. It unscrews from your fuel pump, hopefully, and there's a cylindrical paper element fuel filter in there. Not unusual to find different model parts in these old trucks. No telling what prior owner's have swapped out.

The canister will be full of fuel. After that you will only lose what is in the lines as long as you don't turn the engine over.
