302 Block D8VE 6015 A3A
I have a 302 that I have broken down for a rebuild to put in 1967 F100. The block is a D8VE 6015 A3A Z under that is 7J12...I am wanting to know what kind of heads that I could up grade to that will not break the bank. What would you recommend? I will be adding a cam for good sound this is going to be a daily driver...I would take recemmdation on cam size as well...

'78 block, I don't think there's anything special about it. 28 oz imbalance crank, balancer and flywheel. Per heads, buy new, small port edelbrock erformers or iron if you can't afford the edelbrocks. Ford heads don't flow. Again, decent roller rockers and a non roller cam. I'm almost tempted to say ditch the block and pick up a roller cam one and a 50 OZ flywheel combo that will work with your trans. Roller cams give much more efficient performance.

Thanks for the reply and recommendation. I may just halt the build and look for a 302 roller engine.

The do have a different crankshaft imbalance so you'll need the harmonic balancer and a 50oz flywheel that fits your transmission. If you find a complete long block you'll have the correct valve train components for a late model head swap.

Roller rockers go on the head, roller lifters go with a roller cam and the roller part of the lifter allows for more aggressive lift rates on the cam.

Ah, that's what I was missing. Rockers vs lifters. Gotta cut back on the tequila for breakfast ...
