1967 240 ticking
i Just purchased a 1967 with a 240. Everything is very solid on the truck except for a ticking noice coming from the engine. Sounds like it is top end and it ticks the entire time the engine is running. So far i have taken checked the oil pressure as well as taken the spark plugs off individually. I also took the cover off to see if anything was hitting. I was thinking maybe the pushrods where loose but I heard they are not adjustable. Any information or any ides would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Re: 1967 240 ticking
the lifters may be gummed up and sticking/stuck and wont pump up, theyre spring loaded inside. You might try adding a bottle of Miracle Oil to your oil and running it for a while to see if that will free things up and quiet things down.
I eventually bought a new set of lifters from Rock Auto when I had the head rebuilt.

From experience: The 240 exhaust manifold can develop a small crack that will generate a ticking sound.
