black smoke

hi I have 72 ford f100 360 engine it starts fine when I turn it off and turn it back on but once is been sitting for a while 20 minutes or less it has a hard time to turn on and when it does black smoke comes out exhaust pipes it starts kind of rough but then after 1 minutes it runs good with no black smoke I also have a hard time turning it on in the mornings have to press pedal to many times is it because I have a mechanical fuel pump?

Engine flooding from gas boiling out the carb off after it shuts down. More common problem when it's hot out. Post up some pics of what your engine looks like for some better advice.
