360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
I am getting ready to change out the water pump on my 1971 F250. Not knowing a lot of the history of the motor, I want to replace the bolts for the water pump and accessories as I do this. I want to have the pieces on hand ahead of time, but I can't seem to locate the info. I am needing the specs on the bolts for the water neck, pump, AC, etc.

Re: 360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
I bought the engine kits for both my 351W and my 289 from these guys https://alloyboltz.com/catalog/product_ ... qiqip08p40 I found them to be good quality and a very complete kit. Only consideration is that these are "base" kits only so if you start adding accessories like A/C or P/S, you may need a couple more bolts that are not included. For my 289 with A/C and P/S, I had to purchase 2 more, longer bolts for the water pump/timing cover but got those at the local Ace Hardware. For the price of the kit, it's worth buying even if you don't need them all.

Re: 360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
I agree with both previous posts. I bought a bolt kit for my rebuild, because the PO gave me a couple of coffee cans with bolts, so I had no idea what went where. The kit I bought had everything labeled (yay), but when it came down to head bolts, I used original bolts (thanks, BobbyFord, because the PO lost some (grrrr)). For everything else, it's easier (i.e., less frustrating) to reach for a labeled, sealed baggie.
For onesie-twosie type things, I go to the local Ace Hardware. They have drawers of specialty bolts, and I can usually find exacly what I need. For really odd-ball stuff, Praxair or McMaster-Carr.
If you need specs, take your parts to Ace, and see what fits. If you can thread it in by hand, it fits. If it's Metric, it doesn't fit (or shouldn't fit on a 50-year-old American truck).

Re: 360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
I appreciate the suggestions folks, but I am that kind of anal on some things that I would prefer to use new otherwise I would not have asked the question. Second, the reason I asked for the sizes/specs was I want the new ones on hand BEFORE I take the stuff apart so I do not have to make a parts run in the middle of doing this. I have one short time frame to get this done before back surgery sidelines me for 4-6 months and I can not work on it. I would rather not pray all the bolts are still good etc, plus one of them had a ground down head to clear the pulleys. I have a bad feeling it is going to take some work and I can't afford any delays when I get this going.

Re: 360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
Unfortunately I don't think there is a set answer to the question.
There are so many variations of accessory drive (and possibly even WP) that the sizes could vary.
If you buy an ARP kit they will exchange incorrect bolts (and I am pretty sure I had to take advantage of this for the WP) ... but that doesn't help you much with the time factor.

Re: 360 FE water pump/accessory bolts
DuckRyder,
That is pretty much what I thought was the answer is to have to do it as I go or piece together from a couple of kits. I think this is something I am going to take pics of and document (if I can remember it as I go) to have and pass along for reference. Never hurts to have this kind of info. I know if I am looking for it, someone else has, is or will be doing the same at some point. So hopefully I remember to do this as I go!
Thanks again to everyone for the replies and suggestions!
