1970 F250 4x4 Chassis part# C8AE 5020E

Post by dvdwood »

I am looking for the front chassis cross member. The part number stamped on it is C8AE 5020E. It looks like someone had wrapped a chain around the cross member to pull it out of a ditch. It must have really been stuck as the cross member is twisted and broke in half. The chassis drawing showed the part number as 5019 but that is a duplicate number for the main cross member under the engine. If I am unable to find one I would be happy to get a dimensioned drawing so that I can have one fabricated. I am starting a rebuild on my dad's truck that I grew up driving.

You're looking for the front crossmember marked 5019 in this diagram from the Ford Trucks Master Parts Catalog (MPC), correct? That front crossmember is one of the components of the full frame...welded it at the factory and not generally available separately. However, it does have a part number, though it's not the one you posted. 5019 is the Basic Part Number for a front frame crossmember, 5030 is also for a crossmember, but the fourth one back.

...and while it's possible at one time it was available separately for collision repair, I highly doubt you're going to find one. Your best bet would be to either (like you said) fabricate one or cut one from a donor truck.

The diagram you show is for a F-100. It is actually 5020 even though the drawing shows 5019. There are two very different parts with the same part number. The existing part has a factory stamp on it (C8AE 5020E). It is the riveted cross member on the left side of the drawing. It is connected with the two 5135 and 5340 brackets.

Whoops...you're right, I posted the wrong image. Sorry about that. However, I'm still guessing that the part you're looking for is going to be a needle in a haystack, but I wish you all the luck!
