Full length headers for a 351W in a '69 F100

Post by GonzoTx »

Hello truck Gurus, I'm new to this forum and just bought a '69 f 100 that the p.o. had installed a 351 W. Right now it has a set of Fox body H.O. "headers" and a 2 inch (yes you read that right) exhaust system on it. I would like to put a set of full length headers and maybe a set of 2 1/2-2 3/4 exhaust with a set of Flowmasters, but I can't find any 351 W headers anywhere ! I did find one set of 351M headers, but all I know about them is that the "M" stands for modified. Anyone got any ideas ???
Thanks for any and all help !

Long tubes? Nothing off the shelf that I know of.. if shorties then BBK 1515.

'Could try 80-96 or whenever the 351W was offered.. plan on cutting and sectioning to make em fit. You got a welder, right?

Yeah, I got my Lincoln MIG ready to go ! I've got a good buddy who is a good fab guy and is great with a tig so I may just see if he is up for a challenge , I know he is up to the welding but we are both getting old and don't crawl around like we used to. I may just go with the shorty's ...

If you decide to go with shorties our very own Pincheweddo did a great write up on the Sanderson Blockhugger Headers FF6-P in his blog. http://www.1967f100.com/2013/09/and-win ... erson.html

Long tube headers are always a gamble on our trucks. If you've got a big budget and or a good welder. They do make long tube headers for our trucks. Man I can't remember the brand. If on a budget I'd go ebay sbf shorty headers. They have a 3" outlet which is nice better then your HO headers I'd bet. That's the route I went. They work great! Wish I had better info for u.

I looked hard into long tubes and decided that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. Thinking about clearance issues because mine is lowered, and potential fitment issues and I know there are some power gains over shorties but the trouble free fitment of Ford Racing shorties won me over. If a long tube is going to fit, I would guess that the BBK 351w swap foxbody long tubes would work the best but to cheap to buy and try. Plus they are steel tubes and I wanted stainless.

I went with what I know and what was simple.

Thanx everyone, I think i'm going with Craigerf100 and try some ebay shorties. These stock Fox Body "headers" are tied in with 2 inch exhaust with 10 inch glass packs and to me it sounds pitiful... Plus it has to be sucking 30-40 horse power in the mid range and top end !
