Re: 1972 302 Engine Noise
After a few days of thinking about it I'm more leaning towards just having the full rebuild done, that's what I'd want the end result to be years down the road, just sucks I got a truck with a bad engine now. Probably I'll see about the machine shops schedule this week and when I can get it to them and there finial estimate for the cost... Hope these heads are in good shape atleast on the engine

As suggested you can probably get a crate engine from a quality vendor with a good warranty a lot cheaper than having a local shop rebuild it. I checked on the Promar website and found a 302 longblock for $1999.00

That would also be a good option too, I only went with the rebuild on my original to keep it "numbers matching". I had to think it over but can't beat original iron. The machine shop is charging me $1600-1900 depending on how bad things are once it's tore down. Holefully it doesn't turn into a can of worms but I have high hopes
