Oily Sparkplug Threads

Post by ThinLizzy13 »

Did some tweaking on my truck last week with timing/dwell/vac settings. Pulled a plug to check how they looked after my adjustments. I've noticed that I have a little bit of oil on several of my sparkplugs' threads. I have no oil leaking down from the valve covers at all, and my plugs are not oil fouled.

Not sure what could cause this. Blowby? They were all clean and new when I installed them last week. Any thoughts on what could cause this? :hmm:

Rings or valve seals

If the electrode is nice and clean I would not worry about it

All the threads are in the head .......a leaky valve cover would only put oil on the threads when removing the plugs

It wouldn't surprise me if those parts are worn, it's got 72k on the original engine. Thanks tnlprt
