steering shaft slop

Post by takehikes »

My steering shaft has slop vertically...shaft moves up and down if you take the steering wheel in hand and pull on it or push on it. It seems the slop is in the box maybe as the shaft and coupling appear solid. Suggestions?

Take a look at the bracket that mounts the column to the floor, Even if the box were removed, if the lower end of the column was bolted down correctly there would be very little slack.
