i have a 1971 f-250 disc/front drums/rear the power booster is bad . I went to NAPA got one the part # is 54-73515 but it looks alot smaller then the one i took off it has a adjustable tail piece that hooks to the brake pedal, how ever when i questioned the size of the booster they looked it up again & came up with a different booster NAPA part # 5473112 it looks like the one i took off the truck but it doe not have the adjustable rod going to the brake pedal how do i or anybody who help come up with the right booster thanks.

Re: power booosters
54-73112 is the style F350 booster I put on my '69 F100 Ranger back in 2012. My donor booster/firewall brackets came from a '75 F350 donor truck. I traded the donor booster in for a newly rebuilt unit.
I've seen this particular style of booster, under the same part number but, with four variations to it. One variation of this particular part number booster has cladding on the back of the booster housing that wraps around towards the front, a plate across the front where the MC mounts and has an adjustable input rod.
The second variation I've seen has the cladding on the back, no plate on the front and has an adjustable input rod.
The 3rd variation is like the one I put on my truck --no cladding on the back, no plate on the front and the long input rod isn't adjustable.
The fourth variation I've seen has the cladding on the back, a plate on the front and the input rod isn't adjustable.
Some addition information on the other F350 brake boosters.

That's a good question, since under the 54-73112 part number, I've seen four different configurations of this style of dual diaphragm booster.joe hermanek wrote:mine has the cladding that's around the booster, the piece going to the brake pedal is adjustable ,question is what would be the part number for this kind of booster. I don't know of any specific sub number that would determine exactly what configuration you would get when ordering this booster.

Re: power booosters
When ordering parts for old cars, it's not unusual for a replacement part not to be identical to the one you are replacing. And then it works fine anyways.

My advice is to have your old unit rebuilt by Booster Dewey. You know the old one fits and he does fantastic work. I was very satisfied with mine
