There are codes cast into the heads that show when they were cast, and what version of the casting. Something like C4AE ABCD. It lets people know the year of the casting, mods, etc. Cool if you're into that stuff, not cool if you're not. Either way, it will be a string of eight letters and numbers, and since heads are stinkin' heavy to ship, people want to know before they commit.

A quick follow-up. My heads only had five numbers/letters cast into them, not eight.
