Can the non P71 CV front end support a 460

Post by 67swbranger »

Hi, just wondering if the non police interceptor version of the crown victoria front end can hold the weight of the 460/ C6 transmission. I wasnt originally planning on running a 460 when I installed the front end, hence why I got one off a civilian car. But the big block kinda fell onto my lap so to speak. Another concern of mine is will the additional weight eat through ball bearings, brakes, ect? The big block isnt worth it too me if its going to eat through suspension parts. I saw a couple threads where people were running 460's but they all had the P71 front end and no complaints of broken parts from it.
Bumpside Ford truck, made out of an 1967 f100, a 1972 f100, a 1978 lincoln, a 1987 f250, a 1993 crown victoria, a 2003 crown victora, and a whole lot of cutoff wheels and mig wire. Doesnt have many uses but is amazing at confusing the guy behind the parts store counter

I read somewhere that the only difference between the two was the springs and the shocks which you can change.
