Will a T-5 transmission fit in a 1967 f100
I am taking out my C4 and wanting to go with a T-5. Is there any issues I should be looking onto that will cause it not to fit to my 302? Also any issues with it hitting my bench seat? The in reason taking it out is I am running my 373 rearend gears and it revs hard at 55 mph 3k on my tach. Any ideas of what I should do? Thanks

I'd drop a set of 3.25's in the rear first. Doing a 5 speed swap is @ 5x as expensive. T5 will need a cable setup or some flavor of aftermarket hydraulic. After trying to run a hydraulic ZF5 behind my IDI 6.9 I realized the firewall is just too flimsy to support the load. I run a cable setup in my Ranchero and it's OK but required a good bit of engineering to get it to work well. T5 was meant to have a 50 oz imbalance flywheel so you'll be getting a FMS one for a T5 with a 28 oz imbalance. Otherwise it's not a horrible swap but those points will trip you up if not prepared.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there any other manual tranny that would work on the floor 4,5 speed? I went away with the column when I restored the truck and really wanted floor shift. The truck has some engine work cam, head work upgraded pistons bored, etc.. but seems like the C4 revs to quick to be able to cruise around town. And I thought going manual with a 4 speed or higher would work. And leaving the 373 would still give me a good take off. But the rearend option is one I will have to do if I can't get the tranny in.
Do the 325 have a decent take off or is that something I have to give up?
Thanks

Define good take off? A set of 3.25's with a stock C4 will give decent take off while still cruising the highway without suffering. They might or might not be happy on the interstate running 75+ for an hour or two but will be much happier vs. the 3.73's...
As far as fits goes, pretty much anything that came behind a 302 / 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 will fit. The later tranny's work pretty well for normal duty. You'll still have to deal with the adaption and interface of old truck and new clutch system. Possibly the simplest is getting a toploader / T18 pattern derivative like a Tremec 3550 and using the stock '60's clutch linkage with a modern tranny.

You can use a truck three speed bell house with an adapter for a classic mustang to mount a t5 . Then you move the crossmember back a little and do the driveshaft . It was almost to easy doing it that way.

Another option is the T-19 close ratio it's ratios are 4.00-2.40-1.40-1 and first is synchronized very similar in size to NP-435 and stick in in nearly the same spot
