Rear end spool removal

Post by Slacker809 »

I was told that the 69 f100 I just bought had a locker in it. Both wheels turn ALL the time. Is that a locker or spool? I was told it wasn't welded up but I'm not sure? How can I check what I have and how can I change it to limited slip differential? Was told it was 4.10 bears and it definitely feels like it. Thanks for your help.

Thanks I'm New to this and know nothing about lockers and spools. Can I just have it removed and run a open differential until I can get limited slip?

Just need to make sure they didn't weld or remove anything if they put a spool in there. If they did you'll be replacing stuff anyway. You can get a Traction Lock carrier from Currie Enterprises fror about $300. That's the replacement for the original Ford TracLoc limited slip.c There are cheaper versions elsewhere but I don't know how much I trust "cheap".

Price depends on the type of rearend
