Tranny speedometer gear

Post by martin72f100 »

Boy I'm stumped and need a miracle to solve my problem and looking for a little help.
I have a 72F100 with the Borg Warner T18 four speed with creeper 1st gear.My problem is the nylon gear in the tail shaft that drives the speedometer cable. The gear looks ok but doesn't contact the gears inside the tail shaft.I thought I would buy a new gear but they have like 6 gears they used and I don't want to buy them all.The motor was switched and I have no idea if the tranny is original either. Is it possible the gear in the tail shaft is worn out? Is there any way to id the proper gear by the part number on the tranny case.Help.
