Holley 1850 4160 Information

Post by RustRed »

Greetings & Salutations,
I will be receiving a Holley Carb: List-5752426, 1850, Date code is 445.
Photo of carb shows a ported vacuum port. I have researched several hours and cannot find much information about very early 1850's. I did see that one person said ported vacuum does not go to main body of carb.
Date code searching yielded conflicting info. One site says list number is from a 1958 Lincoln 390. Another site says it is a 1964 carb!
Will you smart guys here give me the true facts and hopefully all the specifications I need. I will be installing said carb on a 1971 F100 302 stock engine with duel vacuum lines leaving the distributor. One vacuum line goes to deceleration valve, other one goes to a tee on the manifold.

The 575 carb is the original 1850 carb

The 445 date code signifies that it is a over the counter service replacement

It will have the Ford lever on the base plate

Like I said

The carb was a service replacement or a warranty part that was to be sold over the counter

I have about 10 of them

want to sell yours or are you going to use it

I might be interested if the price is cheap enough

Thank-you tnlprt, but original 150 is confusing to me .Original 1964 carb or to a Lincoln 390 or 1964 Lincoln?

Also does anyone know about the vacuumn connection I asked about?

Hi,

Usually, on a Holly carb the Ported port is located on the passenger side of the front metering block and the manifold port is located somewhere on the carbs base plate.

If your not sure if the port in question is "ported" or non-ported(manifold). Crank the engine and with it at idle put your finger over the port. If you feel vacuum it's a manifold (non-ported) port. No vacuum is Ported. The Ported should only have vacuum on it once the throttle comes off idle.

As for the 2 lines you have on the Dissy. One was for vacuum timing advance and the other as you mentioned was de-deceleration. Your Dissy is obviously an Emissions unit as that is the sole purpose of this line. Unless you are doing a 100% accurate restoration I would remove and plug the de-deceleration line.

Take care and hope this helps,
Lee

I apologize for not explaining my question better!!! I want to know if the original List 575...... Holley carb cam with an original ported vacuum port. I found some info that states ported vacuum was not made in 64. So I am asking if this is true. I wonder if metering block was added to connect ported vacuum line to manifold diaphragm. Only problem with this is main body of carb may not have holes on MAIN Body for ported vacuum, therefor being useless.............. :o
