Speedo needle

I was driving along today at about 70 and started noticing that the speedo needle was up at 90 and then 100. Then the needle dissappeared. It now doesn't work at all. I can't even see the needle anymore. Has anyone else had this issie? What's the best way to fix this?

Tap the gauge face carefully when not moving. If you don't see it, it may have snapped off due to lack of lube.

Took some playing with and new lubrication but i got it working again...

Well crap...It did it again..this time i cant seem to get the needle back in place. The cable appears to be working properly so i am assuming it is going to be something else.
