Building a spring pack
I have 2 sets of stock highboy springs and was wondering if i can take them apart and layer them together to get lift and or a better ride?

Well.....
I have built a lot of "******* packs" as i call them, in my day.
The ride never got any better. Mostly worse on account of "leaf bind".
Worn out leafs will support better if you have twice the number. However, they are still worn out leafs.
Will you gain height, yup. you will also get incredibly long u-bolts on the rear to go around all those extra leafs.
Which under high torque situations will lead to a better chance of "axle wrap". Rear axle yolks do not like axle wrap ! Neither do drive shafts !
Don't ask me how i know......
If you are considering doing this on the front axle.....My opinion is DO NOT.
Replace them outright with new spring packs.
On the rear look into a new set of "stock" leafs or if you want more height. Arched leafs.
If you are going to mix packs, be damn careful when you take them apart. That center/alignment/king bolt is under a lot of pressure. Even in a worn out set of leafs.
Good luck with it !

Get a couple of big screw style C clamps .Use them to hold the spring pressure when you take the center bolt out .two-bit wrote:If you are going to mix packs, be damn careful when you take them apart. That center/alignment/king bolt is under a lot of pressure. Even in a worn out set of leafs.
Then carefully release them.
