'73 C6 compatable with a '71 460?
Hi, I have a '70 F-100 which currently has a 360 FE and C6. I believe the heads may be warped or at the very least both exhaust manifolds need new gaskets, but I picked up a '71 460 from a fellow who said it came out of a Continental thinking my C6 would bolt up. Come to find out there are 3 different bolt patterns for the C6 and mine wouldn't bolt up to the 460 so I been looking for another and may have found it but thought I would run it by this forum knowing that most of you have way more experience than I. The guy who has the one I am thinking about picking up sent me the 3 different bolt patterns and says his will fit the 460 from the 335 series and I measured the distance between the 2 top holes, center to center and came up with a match to what he has: 7 3/4"....plus, there are 5 "ribs" on the top of the case that lead me to further believe this is the one. and everything should fit/ bolt up w/o any problems, hehehehe.......anyone want to reassure me?

That sounds right
The 351"M" /400 and 429 and 460 have the same bolt pattern.
I had one 429 out of an old T bird maybe ? that had a slanted top.
If you look at the back of a big block (with no tranny )there is a bolt hole down by it self ,
that trans bolted on there. it must of been for a clearance issue.
